Agriproducts - Feed Ingredients > Virginia Prime Oils > Virginia Prime Gold

Virginia Prime Gold is our premier oil that has many different applications in the agricultural field. Virginia Prime Gold is pure fish oil that has been fractionated, where the solid stearine fraction has been crystallized and filtered out. This is accomplished by chilling the oil, causing the stearine fraction of the oil to crystallize. These crystals are then filtered out producing a free flowing oil that contains less saturated fats and more polyunsaturated fats than our basic crude oil. The oil is then refined to reduce the free fatty acid content, improving its profile as a feed supplement. Finally the oil is bleached using clay to reduce color, odor and many oxidative precursors.

Virginia Prime Gold, a rich source of long chain omega-3 fatty acids, is generally used as an ingredient in the following feeds:

  • larval aquaculture
  • layers (for omega-3 shell eggs)
  • rumen by-pass
  • livestock
  • pet
