 OmegaEquis is our premier fish oil specifically formulated for the equine diet. OmegaEquis is pure fish oil that has been fractionated, where the solid stearine fraction has been crystallized and filtered out. This is accomplished by chilling the oil, causing the stearine fraction of the oil to crystallize. These crystals are then filtered out producing free flowing oil that contains less saturated fats and more polyunsaturated fats than our basic crude oil. The oil is then refined to reduce the free fatty acid content, improving its profile as a feed supplement. The oil is then bleached using clay to reduce color, odor and many oxidative precursors. Finally, the oil is flavored with natural and artificial flavoring to enhance palatability and stabilized with all natural mixed tocopherals.
OmegaEquis, contains 30-40% omega-3 fatty acids, primarily in the form of long-chain EPA and DHA. Analysis of the typical equine diet shows this needs to be added for balanced nutrition. OmegaEquis is generally used for:
