 Virginia Prime Platinum is our highest grade oil. Virginia Prime Platinum is pure fish oil that has been fractionated. This is accomplished by chilling the oil, causing the stearine fraction of the oil to crystallize. These crystals are then filtered out producing a free flowing oil that contains less saturated fats and more polyunsaturated fats than our basic crude oil. The oil is then refined to reduce the free fatty acid content, making it the perfect addition to premium and prescription feeds. The oil is also bleached using clay to reduce color, odor and many oxidative precursors. Finally, the oil is deodorized to remove the characteristic odor and flavor of fish oil. The final product is a light colored oil that is virtually odor and taste-free. For this reason Virginia Prime Platinum is used in facilities that require ingredients to be GRAS approved, such as a toll processor that also runs food products.
